How A Wind Turbine Works
Before you order a set of wind generator plans, it's best to fully understand how all the parts of a wind turbine come together. With that said, lets take a look at all the parts that make up a wind generator.
Parts that make up a wind turbine
Part 1. Generator: The generator will take the power from the wind and convert it to a d/c wave which is then fed to the battery bank via the charge controller.
Part 2. Blades and Hub: The blades which are attached to the hub, catch the wind and spin the d/c motor, thus producing power that can be fed to the battery bank.
Part 3. Mounting Body and Tail: The body is the base the motor will be securely attached to, and the tail is then mounted to the rear of the base, allowing for the wind generator to always face the direction of the wind.
Part 4. Tower: The tower is where the body of the wind turbine will be mounted. It is important to make sure the tower is high enough to allow for full wind speeds. Make sure the tower is not being blocked out by trees, houses, or any other structure that can cut windspeed.
Parts that make up the power storage and power usage
Part 1. Charge Controller: The charge controller will allow you to see the amount of power being produced by the wind turbine. The charge controller is also crucial to not over charging the batteries. Without a charge controller you will end up wearing the batteries out.
Part 2. Battery Bank: The battery bank allows you to store the energy produced by your wind generator. You can if you like power any d/c appliances you have directly from the battery bank.
Part 3. Inverter: The inverter takes the stored energy produced by your windturbine and changes it from a d/c current to a freindly a/c current that can now be used to power any of your normal household appliances. These can be lights, tvs, computers, whatever you like as long as it is a/c.
Attach the wind generator to the power storage and you now have usable power created using the wind.
